In October 2023, 58% of households in Connecticut that fell below the Household Survival Budget Threshold found it challenging to pay for basic necessities like food, rent or, car payments, and medical expenses. This percentage increased from 50% in August 2020.

Connecticut has the highest child care costs in the US, making it hard for parents to work. The average cost is $27,125 per year, almost $10,000 more than the national average of $18,886.

Financial stress has a well-known adverse effect on mental health. causing more feeling nervous, anxious, or on edge almost day, leading to our mental health crisis.

HOW DO WE MOVE FORWARD?

Battling Crisis after Crisis

Intentional communities can lead us towards a healthier and happier lifestyle amidst the pressing need for significant change. However, without addressing issues such as the unequal of unpaid household work, lack of support for time-constrained working families, and gender pay gap, future generations will continue to face struggles Problems like homelessness, mental health, and have been persistent for decades and continue to escalate, creating a complex7 of challenges.

Intentional Community

Intentional communities are about creating attachment, the feeling that someone has your back....‘Who would you call in the middle of the night if you were really sick or scared?’ Intentional communities can help you have an answer to that question.”

ADDRESSING THE SOUTHINGTON ZONING COMMISSIONER'S
STATMENT

This is a great place to add a tagline.

"Since the August 22, 2024 and the start of the project, I have been in contact with zoning. On March 26th 2024 I attended a preliminary zoning meeting to discuss our vision and collaborate with other departments to see what we would need to do and whom we would need to work with as it progressed. The property is zoned for R-40, and our architect and project partners will handle the drafted plans. You can review the attached screenshots of my initial correspondence with David and Jeremy for proof. Zoning approval is only necessary if we plan to add to the beyond its current regulations. Despite false claims made by elected officials, we have been in contact with zoning for over a year. Yet another example of our government not working as a collective for the common good of the people within the communities they serve."
